How can I turn off voice messaging inside iMessage? I’m not talking about dictation. That setting is off. I mean the ability to accidentally hit the sound icon to the right side of the message prompt. It is way too easy to accidentally hit that while reading someone’s message and then randomly sending them everything my mic pics up.

last time I checked, iOS doesn’t have a specific setting to disable voice messaging directly within iMessage. However, you can prevent accidental audio messages by tapping and holding the microphone icon to the right of the message field, then sliding your finger up to the "Cancel" option to delete the recording. This way, you can avoid sending unintentional voice messages.
I don’t have a microphone — mine just has the sound waves icon for messages. I’ve also gotten rid of the diction feature, but I’m sending audio messages way too frequently.
I want to disable this entirely, not just per conversation. Is there a way to do that?

I wanted so bad for this to help even a little….but my raise to listen was already disabled and evidently it has had no positive effect.
Yeah. I was replying to Iaccpa who had red lines in the message input field where the microphone icon normally sits

That’s puzzling. I can only suggest you try and change your keyboard in settings and see if you can find one that has the same options as mine…
I totally agree. This forced feature is ridiculous and totally unwanted on my device. Hopefully apple will provide an option for users to disable it or totally remove it.
Hold down the button in the bottom right of the message window of the microphone when the keyboard is on screen, enable dictation, then push the microphone button again and it will go away

The option to toggle off the audio app feature under settings > messages > iMessage apps would be huge.
Go to settings, general, keyboard, then scroll down and enable voice dictation.
