How do I use the comma/exclamation point key on iPad numeric keyboard?

If I bring up the numeric keyboard on an iPad (iOS 17) there is an exclamation point over the comma, and a question mark over the period. But there is no shift key, and, as far as I can tell, there is no way to actually type these characters from this keyboard. Am I missing something?

Note: Don’t say use key flicks. There should be a way to enter a key displayed on the keyboard regardless of if key flicks is disabled. If it can’t be entered it shouldn’t be displayed.
