USB C directly vs with ethernet adapter?

I started using Migration Assistant to transfer data from a 2017 MB Pro to a new MB Air via wifi but it estimated 30 hr transfer time and I canceled. Should I use USB C connections directly vs. ethernet adapters for faster data transfer? Also, I read that I must continue with Migration Asst; true? It may be simpler which I like!

Wi-Fi is problematic for these transfers. It is too slow for these very large transfers. Yes, use a USB cable and continue. It should complete within an hour or so. However, what was already transferred may have some errors. So, check it out when the transfer is done.
