Email not send/no record in sent folder

reviving this one, for myself and everyone else who has experienced:

Sent E-Mails Not Sending and Disappearing Completely

Within the last couple of weeks, I have been discovering, some of my replies are not being sent and just disappearing. Most were related to the Valencia Canvas LMS, but also had one via EarthLink. When I discovered the e-mails were not reaching their destinations, I searched through my mailboxes on the iPhone and have found there is no related e-mails, not in the Sent folder, Outbox, Deleted Items, no where. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason for it. The cellular and Wi-Fi signals are fine, and it is random.

my phone: iphone SE 2gen

never happened on: iphone 7, same mail settings for same account.

this is ruining my life, i cant know which email will vanish and not send; as a consequence i wait for days for a reply and get irritated when my mails are ignored (never got sent) OR i send things twice and come across like im rude, etiquette wise

iPhone SE, iOS 16

have a theory. Haven’t tested it yet.

The only feature which is new, seems to have been added at roughly the same time emails started disappearing- an “undo send” feature. I have never wanted to use it or experimented with ít yet.

Surely it would have something to do with that.

I have always supposed it would stop the email being sent but also leave a copy somewhere to decide to send or not, perhaps it doesn’t.

The problem is “undo send” area to press is placed a millimetre above the home button where one is intended to place their thumb when holding the phone.

Both the screen and the home button are touch sensitive, no moving parts though—

My theory is that having the thumb on thehome button is able to inadvertently influence the “undo send” area of the screen, just a millimeter away. Millimetres too close?

Just a theory but if there is any basis to it, it means the placement is poorly implemented. I have never desired pressing it or even thought i might have accidentally pressed it.
