problem copying and pasting Numbers text to Pages document after Sonoma upgrade

For years I've always copied text from inside a Numbers document cell on my IMac using CMD-C, then pasting it to a Pages document with CMD-V.

After last night's upgrade to Sonoma, I can no longer perform this operation.

Please help.

JP,

The graphic below is what I get. Also using Sonoma here. What I get is perhaps a little unexpected. Copying one cell, the pasted result is a Table Cell with the same content, in a One-Cell table with the same table name as the Four-Cell table in Numbers. If enough users provide feedback to Apple that they don't like that behavior, they will take a look at it.

I'm not sure it would be considered a flaw, even if it's different than before. Could be a "feature".

The sure way to get only text on the Clipboard is to click down to the text level of the Numbers cell and Select the text content before copying.

Then when Pasting into Pages, you can CMD-V and your text will go into a Text Box. A bit unusual, but again interesting as a feature. Shift-CMD-V or Shift-OPT-CMD-V will give you plain text in the body of the Pages document.

Hope that helps.

I'm on Sonoma 14.1.2.

Selecting cells in Numbers, typing command-c, clicking in Pages, then typing command-v results in a table in Pages.

Double-clicking a single cell in Numbers, selecting the text within the cell so its all highlighted, typing command-c, clicking in Pages, then typing command-v to paste, puts the copied text in Pages as expected (if in Word Processing mode). If in Page Layout mode it puts the copied text in a text box.

I think this is the same behavior as before the upgrade.

You might try restarting your Mac. Also you might want to check that you aren't running a third-party clipboard manager utility that can interfere with the copy-paste.

JP,

I jumped over to the Pages discussion, where I found a similar report from another user. All I can recommend further at this point is to make sure you have applied all updates. 14.1.2 for the OS, and 13.2 for Numbers at this point in time. The answerer in the Pages discussion having no problem and provided more information than I did here.

Cannot copy from Numbers to Pages on macOS 11.7.7
