Wireless Apple Car Play in 2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited

Why can’t I connect to Apple Car Play wirelessly in my new Tucson. This is my first Hyundai and I am extremely disappointed I cannot connect CarPlay wirelessly. All other vehicles I have owned provided wireless play connect. This is so antiquated. Just because I have built in navigation should not prohibit the wireless connection. Please fix this with some type of IOS or Hyundai update. Please!

Thanks, I will look into the device you mentioned.

This is my first Hyundai. I have always driven cars with wireless Apple CarPlay. I do not like having to connect my iPhone to the car via a cable. This is annoying. Like my previous cars, I want to be able to simply get in my car, leave my iPhone in my purse and automatically have access to Apple CarPlay. I can listen to audiobooks, Pandora, my AppleMusic, send/retrieve What's App messages. I do not rely on Google Maps....I use the car navigation, but the hook up via a cable is a pure drag. Hyundai, please fix this. It's ridiculous!!!

I bought a 2024 Tucson Limited which has a 10.25-inch navigation screen and factory-installed navigation system. I was told an update from Hyundai would be coming that will enable a wireless AppleCarplay connection. Hyundai and Apple resolved their dispute, and the software update was supposed to be available for this vehicle beginning in January 2024. I understand Kona has received the update.

Thanks. The inability of the wireless AppleCarplay and the built-in navigation to work together is the dispute Apple and Hyundai supposedly resolved. It makes no sense that the two are not compatible. In lower-level trims of Hyundai, and more specifically, in lower-level trims of Tucson, the wireless Apple Carplay works seamlessly. As I understand it, the dispute involved which company owned rights to the navigation button on the built-in navigation. This is ridiculous. I drove BMWs before Hyundai. There was a Navigation button in the BMWs and the wireless AppleCarplay worked perfectly. One of those two companies negotiated the right to the navigation button successfully, years ago.

Sorry to tell you, but the update did not work

My Kona was working with Apple CarPlay slightly

Hyundai pushed an update and now it doesn’t work at all. I’ll see the screen, but when it comes to texting or giving Apple command, it doesn’t work and even unsend a message when I try to force it by using the screen of the Kona. They’re indicating they don’t know as the engineers of Hyundai when it’ll be repaired. I only had the car for a little over a week. And they may have to process it as a lemon and it’s brand new.

A little off topic but you’re saying they may label your car as a lemon based solely on this issue? Or do you have some other issues going on? Generally, something like not being able to connect to Apple CarPlay or similar services (like Android Auto) wouldn’t qualify as a serious defect or condition that substantially impairs the vehicles use, value or safety even though as consumers we may feel like it does so it’s interesting if they are able to use the lemon law on your vehicle if it’s solely due to CarPlay not working. I only ask because it’s truly an interesting thing if this is the case.

All this talk of the Kona getting the update led me to this page! I have the 2024 Kona and an update did come

through, however, wireless car play is NOT working for me. I have built in nav so was also informed (after purchasing…) that wireless CarPlay is not an option.

After the update, I unpaired everything and followed all steps and nothing. I also have an issue with wired CarPlay where Siri will not read messages, and when responding to texts music in the background is being recorded so random lyrics get sent 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve stopped trying to use my phone except for music in the car. Something is clearly wrong with CarPlay in the newest Hyundai models!

if anyone figures this out I’d love to know cause why should I have to go buy an adapter when I just spent 30k on a new car with the best trim level? Archaic! Even my 2017 Sonata had wireless CarPlay 🤣🤣

For context, my wife has a 2024 Kona limited. My understanding is that there is some holdup with FCC approval.

Apparently, they (the FCC) have not finished certification testing to allow wireless carplay and android auto on head units with satellite radio in the new models… Ridiculous, but there it is…

I bought her a $49 wireless carplay dongle on amazon. Works great.

Does anyone have any kind of reference to something authoritative on this issue? What I’ve read here, and elsewhere are things that people heard. It would be nice if Hyundai or Apple could say, authoritatively, what’s going on.

Meanwhile, I can say definitively that the CarPlay setup on my 2024 Tucson PHEV specifically says to use a USB cable.
