I keep getting Apple ID verification code OTP text messages even though i'm not requesting it

Since four days ago, I’ve been receiving text messages from Apple stating, ‘Your Apple ID code is: XXXXXX. Do not share it with anyone.’ Despite not initiating any OTP requests or attempting to log in, these messages persist, indicating that someone else is attempting to access my account.

Initially, I received two OTPs daily at random hours, which has escalated to four or even six times a day, causing concern. Although I changed my password on day 2, the OTP texts continue even hours after the password change. On day 3, I also changed my Apple ID email address, yet the OTP messages persist. I’m aware that the hacker can’t access my account due to 2FA requiring the OTP, but it’s unsettling that they have my updated credentials, so it feels like only a matter of time before they succeed. This situation is entirely new to me and to be honest it's driving me insane

Of course email addresses are not particularly private, but if you are getting verification code requests then it means somebody may have your password too. In that case changing your password should stop the messages. Since the password is the more secret component of the two bits of information (email address + password) required to log in, you should make sure that is something you change too. Fortunately in your case you had two factor authentication active and that extra level of security was working as it should.
