Kindle App crashing on iPad
Have the lastest ipad update and my kindle app keeps crashing. It opens for a few seconds and then closes. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

If it only happens using that app, and if you're sure that your Kindle app is updated, try a forced restart of your iPad: put it on charge for at least half an hour, then, keeping it plugged in, use these instructions:

This is what I have received from kindles customer service.
“I am very sorry to tell you that due to some technical glitches in the Kindle app, the app is not working, we have forwarded this issue to our concern team and we are trying to fix it as soon as possible.”
Hope this helps, super upset, I just bought a book to read that I have a hard copy of but was going to bed & now I can’t read it.
Same with my iPhone, started this morning (3rd Jan) - was working fine last night. Tried all the recommendations (deleted app, deregistered device from Amazon account, hard reset on phone, airplane mode). Nothing worked. Hoping it gets fixed soon as I use this app multiple times a day. 😖
Same thing happening to me. Brand new iPad Air, just finished book and at 2:47am (PST), the app just started crashing. Tried restarting iPad. Nothing. Uninstalled and then reinstalled. Nothing. Now reading books in web browser. This is just crazy.
My sister said it’s happening for her too, she’s on brand new iPhone 15 pro max that she got it recently so she has the latest os I’m sure. She also tried the same steps of reninstalling and restarting. Still crashing.
But the kindle app is working fine for me on my old iPhone 12 Pro Max and I’m on iOS version 17.1.2 with kindle app version 7.0 not sure if that matters.
Anyway… maybe try the browser version for now, until a fix is put in place?

Joined Amazon’s community, to see if there is anything said, and apparently Amazon’s tech team is aware and is currently trying to fix the issue. Fingers crossed it’s fix soon I really don’t want to lose my streak.
I‘m having the same issue on my iPhone. I have plenty of storage and tried uninstalling then reinstalling the app, and tried powering off my phone then turning it back on but the same issue. It crashes when I try to open a new book! Hopefully this can be fixed soon.
Same issue. I just opened my content and devices, found the book I wanted to read and am currently reading through the browser. I don’t have the Amazon app, so if you do, you may get redirected to app when you type in Amazon’s web address.
This is very obviously an Apple iOS related issue, as my Kindle app works perfectly on my backup phone, which is Android based. Both my Apple phone and iPad stopped running the Kindle app at the same time. Don’t worry though, Apple will fix this in their own good time with ANOTHER iOS update.
Came back on around 2:30PM Eastern and now it’s closing again. If you go onto read kindle, you will have full use of your books. At least now, you’re getting a quick peek at your library before it closes. Like everyone else hoping for an absolute and total cure.
Turning wifi off worked only once for me, now even with wifi off the app still crashes every time I try to open it.
Got hold of Amazon Customer Service and only response I could get was “it’s a developer problem” you’ll just have to wait!
Kindle app just started crashing on my iPad. Did hard reset and still happening, was fine all day. Assuming it’s Amazon issue on broad scale since so many complaining at same time.
I contacted Amazon through Customer Service on their app. They are aware of app crash problem and are “working on it”.
I’ve been in touch with Kindle team they’re aware about the issue and are working on it. They’re going to try and put out a notice.
Happening as of this morning on my iPad Air 5th Gen. Tried the forced resets, deleting then reinstalling the app. Having to read on the Kindle cloud reader on the browser as a stop gap.
The same thing is happening to me. The only way I can read an ebook from amazon right now is via Safari Browser. It isn’t ideal but it is better than nothing.
