MacOS Software Update - Version Sierra 10.12.6

I was looking to update the software of my Mac, and I clicked on 'software update' from System Preferences which brought me to the app store where there was the option to download, 'macOS Sonoma' which would update my mac to 14.2, however my mac is not compatible with this update, because it is compatible with only macOS 10.13 or later. What should I do? I cannot download anything off of the app store because there have been no updates. I would really appreciate any help on this matter!

Back up your data, check the application compatibility table, click here, and then on the download link for a higher OS. No iMac is compatible with both Sierra and Sonoma; you'll need to pick an earlier one, and may not be able to upgrade past High Sierra.

Catalina and above won't run 32-bit software and split iTunes into several applications; if you choose one of them, use Go64 as well.
