Workaround for font choices being overwritten in Books by user settings?

Hey

It seems that the latest version of Books (version 6.2) has made changes to how user settings impact EPUB CSS, often just overwriting even very important layout choices. I often produce rather complex EPUB's where different CSS rules help the reader understand the text better, e.g. using sans-serif for elements that aren't part of the primary text flow. However, with the latest update I've noticed that I cannot set font family for e.g. digital text elements to a monospace font. Instead user settings seem to change all paragraph elements without any discrimination.

Does anyone know how to prevent this or work around the problem?
