no sound during phone call on iPhone 11

This is sort of incredible, hope someone to direct me. Bought an old new stock iPhone11, everything seems to work. Despite one thing that is audio during a phone call. Apple support site recommends resetting the network settings, which I did and that helped - just once. Immediately after a network reset and power up the calling and speaking sound on the iP11 is normal, the other side picks up and the other side can speak and is heard. The next call(s) I make there is no calling tone on the iP11, however there is on the called phone. If the other side picks up the line, there is no sound on either end. Whatsapp audio is fine - wifi but also through mobile data.

I called Apple support and they said the cellular electronics is ok since I can make a call which connects and the audio electronics is ok since whatsapp works, so it must be on the provider side - maybe a bad sim. Provider is vodafone and their service is terrible, the only thing I could do online is convert the iPhone to e-sim. Which I did - a lot of unintelligable instructions further the eSim works but still no audio during a call.


Any thoughts - do I chase apple, vodafone or return the device?

further testing .. resetting to factory defaults - insert other sim from other provider .. still the same problem. Reached vodafone this time, they agreed there was nothing wrong with their network or my sim, so it must be the phone. Removed esim, again reset the phone to factory deaults - insert other network sim card - all the same problem. Contacted the vendor of the phone who admitted it must be the phone itself.

So for whoever - inside or outside apple - reads this post: Yes it IS possbile to have a working cellular connection and a working audio system and still the phone cannot make audio work during a call. I'm not waiting for that mystery be solved and move on elsewhere. Alltoghether more than two days of work and discussions lost. One thing is iPhone will be reimbursed.

my ip11 has just started doing the same thing . Works on watsap calls and video calls but on a standard phone call you can not hear the caller. All sound works on videos, apps,watsap, Facebook call everything apart from a phone call, so it’s got to be a software/ hardware problem ?

there must be a fix for it or is it another way to get people to buy newer models
