How do i output a 5.1 surround sound signal or Dolby surround signal from my Mac Studio

I have done extensive testing and have come to the conclusion that: The AppleTV app, not to mention browsers(that is a whole other discussion, I understand that) does not recognize when the system has more than a 5.1 setup. This NEEDS to be remedied by Apple for their app that is supposed to support all of these advanced audio setups. Mac clearly can output Atmos as it does so with Logic Pro and can even be setup and tested in the Audio Midi setup configs. The fact that some games: World of Warcraft, Eve Online, that I've tested DO support at least 7.1 audio and Apple's own TV app does not, I don't think I am exaggerating, is ridiculous. I have 7.1.4. The files are supposedly atmos and are so with headphones. My appleTV app just does not recognize my focusrite 18i20. This needs to be remedied as there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to output full atmos through my interface when the MAC ITSELF sees that there are that many channels and can send test signals through them. Please don't give me a "buy an appleTV box and receiver" type answer. I can see the issue clearly and would like to know how it is possible that it hasn't been remedied yet. Thanks

Does the HDMI port on the MacBook Pro M2's support Dolby Atmos output? I understand that the MacBook Pro's are capable of Atmos playback, but I've been trying to figure out if the built-in HDMI port on the MacBook Pro M2's support Dolby Atmos output.

Macbook Pro 2021 HDMI Dolby audio output Hi All, I have an 2021 MacBook Pro M1 which I occasionally hook up to my AV Receiver (Yamaha RXA820). The receiver support HMDI 2.0 and Dolby Digital Plus (EC3). However I only seem to be able to output Dolby Digital audio content (AC3) to the receiver. EC3 is not recognized and then it reverts to PCM. I can of course setup the Mac to provide multi channel PCM output but then the Mac is decoding the Dolby signal and the receiver does a better job on that. I've checked everything (including cable). I've done some searching on the net and found this on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleMusic/comments/svja8t/dolby_atmos_via_hdmi_on_macbook_pro/ In this thread it is claimed that the Macbook Pro can't output anything beyond Dolby Digital. It does seems like it but that would not be very PRO if you ask me. Can anyone confirm that the Macbook Pro can output digitial audio over HDMI beyond Dolby Digital? Kind Regards, André

The Mac Studio is connected to a CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 via Thunderbolt 3 cable; I'm sending digital audio out from that vial Optical SPDIF into the optical input on a Emotiva SMC 200.

What 5.1 digital sound system do you have connected to the Mac Studio?

Sorry, final note, multi-channel is within spec for SPDIF optical, so technically that should not the problem. But, apparently, the mac is only "seeing" a 2channel device, as it does not give me an option for as I said surround.

Should add, I'm using Audio Midi to send 2ch 24-bit signal to the Emotiva. There is no option for 5.1 surround, or any surround. The only option is for two channel digital out.
