PowerBook g4 - how to retrieve imovie files

Hi, I've got some imovie files on an old mac that I'd like to retrieve. It's a PowerBook G4, model PowerBook5,8 running Mac OS X version 10.4.11

I can't get any of my external drives to work in the USB port on the PowerBook. I think I tried to get a power booster for it years ago, and failed, and then gave up on retrieving the files. I've finally got the time and motivation to pursue a possible solution.

Any plan of attack that you think may work would be welcome.

Would it be possible via Target Disk Mode to a 2017, or a 2023 Mac Air? If so, what connection is recommended (& preferably cheap & easy? ) Ports for the PowerBook are in the images above.

Thanks.

Hi,

You may want to try a CompactFlash memory card in a PC Card adapter for CF, placed in the PC Card slot of the PowerBook G4. The CF card would act as a removable "hard disk".

The CompactFlash card will have to be in a format readable on the receiving computer (this may be a PC/FAT). CompactFlash card size limits may apply. A suitable memory card reader (USB or other) will be needed for the more modern Mac.

There are also multi-type (x-in-1) PC Card adapters for other memory cards (including SD) that possibly could be used.
