Ipad Air 2 Distorted Colours

Had this issue with my mothers iPad Air 2. Colors would not display properly. Seemed to be a software glitch with the white point compensation. I read that it was a battery issues from other posts in this forum. I did notice that when the iPad was plugged in and charging, and the battery warmed the screen colors became distorted and contrasty. I threw the ipad in the freezer (not recommended) for a few minutes and the screen went back to normal. This leads me to believe that it is indeed a battery issues and needs to be replaced as I had read on other forums. I am charging again to 100% to see if the stress on the battery and excess heat will recreate the issue again. I also tried the smack method on the back top left. We shall see, thought I would add to this issues discussions...
