14.3 Mail.app - Corrupted/Garbled Text When Composing Messages

I'm on 14.3 on a 2019 16" Intel Macbook Pro.

Not experienced blank gaps or garbled text, but having a different issue with Mail

When writing emails with several paragraphs, I'm finding that sometimes when I'm part way through, the text in the first part of the paragraph I'm writing sometimes changes to the text included in one of the earlier paragraphs. Sometimes it changes completely, other times it keeps flicking back and forth between the correct text and the incorrect text as you type. When it changed, using undo puts it back to the correct text (after first undoing any text that was written after it changed - which is annoying)

Apple needs to sort Apple Mail bugs - and quickly. Switched from Outlook on my Mac because it would keep dropping attachments when emails were sent, but now at risk of sending emails to clients that don't make sense or look very unprofessional, not to mention it taking 3x as long to write the email because you have to keep going back and retyping bits...

Yeah, this issue is happening to me as well; 14" M1 Macbook Pro. ANOTHER issue I just found is when I went to top menu and dropped down to 'Save', my message was SENT (and not saved) ! ! ! And of course the message wasn't finished and ready to send. Had to send a quick message to recipient apologizing for this. This issue, like the garbled / large gaps appearing randomly, should NOT be happening at this stage of 'the game'.

It seems to happen when text wraps to the next line in a paragraph. I was typing a paragraph and then some text several paragraphs above got distorted.

It's also happening on my M2 Max MacBook Pro 16". I tried switching from Helvetica to Arial, and that made no difference.

Same issues on Intel MB Pro and iPhone in Mail.app. Mac is running 14.3 and iPhone 17.3. I submitted bug/feedback reports for both. Very annoying bug since it's so disruptive.

This is also happening to me in web-based bulletin boards and Outlook Web Access, so it's systemic.

Same problem on my 2019 16" MBP (Intel chip). Upgraded by wiping the drive and installing 14.3 directly from Recovery Mode, and encountered the same issue with composing messages in Mail as others.

Seeing similar problems with text in Mail with a Mac Studio M2 Ultra.

Also seeing big space gaps (like the example posted by someone above) when text is deleted. If I continue to type, the text eventually rights itself.

Yes, I have this too on an M1 iMac and M3 MacBook Pro. Its very annoying. Im also seeing it duplicate the same sentences in the body of the text and garble things if you change the font setting eg regular to bold.

The other thing Ive noticed is there might be a similar sort of issue in Notes - I had a table I was working on that went very awry

Thanks, and it happens right when text is attempting to wrap or modify existing wrap. I've never seen this buy in Apple Mail before. Really strange, and sad to see Apple didn't catch it. Very easy to test.

14" M2 MacBook Pro here, as well.

Two modes of the bug appear: (1) Overlaying two lines of text on top of one another (screenshotted elsewhere in this thread), and (2) replacing the first line of a paragraph with the first line of another paragraph.

I may have to resort to using Outlook (shudder) until this is resolved.

I've been having these same problems, both on an M2 Mac Studio and an M3 iMac. It definitely happened after the Sonoma 14.3 update.

It's wild. Sentences from earlier paragraphs will randomly show up in later paragraphs. Text will overlay other text.

I have exactly the same problem. It is so bad that composing emails in mail is not possible. My workaround is to use notes and copy into mail, but then the problem occurs with formatting the pasted text. Using Mack book pro. THIS IS HOPELESS.

FYI update - went through troubleshooting steps with apple until they asked me to re-install the OS. Just re-installed the OS and the email text display issue is still there. It can be easily replicated by typing a paragraph, then starting a second paragraph. By the time I get to the 3rd line of 2nd paragraph, the 1st line of the 1st paragraph suddenly repeats in the 1st line of the 2nd paragraph. It does it every time. If I keep going, I've even had the 3rd line of 1st paragraph repeat in 3rd line of 2nd paragraph.
