Dongle not working for earphones but it is for charging.

Yesterday I purchased an Apple Dongle for my earphones with an audio jack. I plugged in my earphones, and it didn’t work. Must’ve tried over 100 times to get it to work. I troubleshot looked at videos on YouTube. One of them said to go into settings and go to sounds and haptics, and then go down to headphones after, and then “forget lightning adapters”. I did that. And it didn’t work. I turned off my phone, that didn’t work. I turned it on to airplane mode, and that didn’t work. I made sure my phone wasn’t connected to any other divides via bluetooth. I also turned off my Bluetooth.

So I though I just purchased a faulty Apple dongle.

To troubleshoot even further, TODAY I purchased a dongle that can charge and do earphones at the same time. It has a charging port and an audio jack. The dongle says that it’s made for Apple products. Specifically IPhones. It has the FCC logo on it. And it’s Apple approved. My phone is up to date. IOS 17.03. My actual charging port in my phone is clean. And I know it works fine with no issue because I charge it every night with no issues.

When I plug the in the dongle(that I just purchased today) I don’t get a message or anything saying that I’ve done so like you’re supposed to. BUT, when I plug my charger in to the charging port of the dongle though, my phone charges. So I know i know it’s not the charging port on my phone, and it’s not the actual dongle itself.

It has to be a software issue.

Can I get any help with this please?

Are you referring to any of these?

  1. USB-C to USB-A Adapter:
  2. Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter:
  3. USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter:
  4. Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapter:

I have not come across the word "Dongle" refered in any of the Apple Articles.

Oxforn Dictionbary defines dongle as : a small device able to be connected to and used with a computer, especially to allow access to wireless broadband or use of protected software.

  1. Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter:

The package for the first Adapter that I purchased says “Lightning to headphone jack adapter” on the front. On the back it says “Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter”

it’s from Apple.

the second Adapter I purchased today says “Lightning to 3.5mm AUX Adapter” and “made for IPhone | IPad | IPod”

The Back says “Lightning to 3.5mm AUX Adapter” again.

the Brand is “Connect Onn.”

I don’t think this issue is with the adapter/accessory.
