Contact Card Keeps Popping Up

I had the same problem and solved it.

On your Mac, go into Contacts -> Settings -> @ Accounts (Tab) -> uncheck "Enable this Account"

Once I did this, the problem went away.

Hi all, found in activity monitor that the popup was something called "AutoFillPanelService (20477)" but selecting quit or even force quit didn't make it go away. Have to get back to studying but couldn't find a quick explanation online for what it is.

Next I tried closing all my windows in case I still had a PDF open (that's when it originally popped up for me a couple weeks ago). It didn't go away for good until I quit the 'Preview' app (which I usually keep open b/c I'm always messing with images).

Not sure if it will come back if I reopen but especially if you don't need Preview for any length of time then I would try that.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account. 

unplug all third party peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

I don't think this counts as a solution but I eventually decided to shut every app down on my MBP, followed by a restart. I then started opening them only when I needed to. My thinking was that one app, or maybe a combination of apps, was causing this. Since then I haven't seen the problem at all.

I have had this issue lately, and upgraded to MacOS Version 14.4 (23E214) yesterday, have until now not seen the pop-up again (had it randomly showing up about every 30-90 minutes until I upgraded).

I am trying a new solution to this problem. Note that I do NOT use Apple Contacts at all. Apple Contacts got activated somehow due to my failed iPhone experiment and, I have since abandoned the phone and gone back to the flexibility of Android. Thus, if this solution works, it still might not be suitable for everyone.

Thus, the hypothesis is that iCloud is somehow forcing this pop up periodically.

Fingers crossed that this fixes this issue.

I read through the recommendations and I just "force quit" the Previews app and the box disappeared, Hallelujah! lol Idk if it will last, but it's gone for now.

I had also started receiving a ton of spam emails around the same time that the autofill contact box was randomly populating. I wondered if I was inadvertently sharing my info to websites when I would click the box to make it go away. I'm not tech-y, so if that makes zero sense, just forgive my ignorance.

I have the same problem and I am running macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 on an M1 MBP.

This problem started for me immediately after I deleted two Google Internet accounts that I had stored in System Settings. I was only synching Contacts between my MBP and my iPhone. I wonder if my iPhone is involved somehow.

24 hours later, and many hours behind the computer - have not seen the pop-up since the upgrade!

UPDATE: I got on with live apple support, who screenshared with me. It appears there was 2 different usernames on the contact card. We deleted one. The thing went away...only to reappear about an hour later!!! I was on so long with him too.

I suggest we all try apple support and if enough call in for help, one os us may get the magic fix!

This same thing is happening to me. Macbook Air M1 and Mac Mini M1, both on Sonoma 14.5. At first I thought it only happened when I plugged my iPhone in to charge but I just had the pop-up occur and I didn't even have my phone near me.

Plus one here - same issue.

In addition - and likely related - the contacts app is now so buggy, it is unusable.

1) does not allow me to delete duplicate instances of my personal contact card

2) does not sync accurately / consistently across all my other iOS devices

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. It's intermittent so the Safe Boot suggestion could take forever. Have you had any luck with finding a solution?
