MAC Book Pro 2017 - FlexGate Cable

I'm a big fan of Apple and using multiple products. One of them is the MAC Book Pro (2017) model. This model has FlexGate cable manufacturing defects that Apple recalled earlier. Due to some personal reasons, I was not able to get the replacement and forgot later. Now my MAC has a display issue which works with an external screen. After a little bit of investigation, I came to know this is due to a FlexCable issue which needs a replacement.

Now Apple Store is asking to pay repair cost that is not fare. It should be replaced under the recall feature which Apple introduced. Can someone help if he/she is also in the same situation and got the repair done without cost or any other suggestion?

On one side, the store says there was a recall for these models (2017) on the other side, customer support says no recall. They are not in sync.

They don't want to repair & not cover it under the recall program. Not sure what should I do

readers here are other users like you. we do not speak for apple.

But generally speaking, your choices are:

• connect an external display and use that instead, or in addition to the built-in display. That is not nearly so portable, but your model MacBook Pro 2017 supports up to FOUR displays at up to 4K each, or two at up to 5K each.

• pay for the repair

• trade in your Mac toward a new one, such as a Apple-silicon MacBook Air.
