I didn’t receive the unity challenge for February. Did anyone else?

Sadly the logic behind the display of the limited Edition & Daily & Monthly challenge awards appears to have changed in one of the updates. Now the award is not displayed until the target has been reached, which means that unless you happen to know the day when the award is on and what the target is you will not see it unless you happen achieve the target by chance. To test this for yourself wait for the World Environment Day Challenge on 5th June and see if the award shows before you close your Stand Ring.

I would consider this as „working as designed“:

Hi @macomonaco,

Agreed! (Or, at least, I agree the timing agrees with what Mac Rumors reported. 😉)

Tbh, I posted those initially in response to a forum member issue. And then reposted b/c they seemed to be relevant to a different user Q. Not sure if they actually helped anyone, but I try.

Can I ask you if you have notifications toggled on for Lmtd Ed Challenges? If so, are you receiving them?? This is one feature that very much isn’t working as designed for me.

Here is the link to a different post where I described the problem. Limited edition challenges - Apple Community In brief, after researching online for parallel examples (found a few, but no known solution) and asking around in this forum (no responses), I thought stumbled on a solution through blind troubleshooting (by blind, I mean testing rare circumstances that I can’t independently trigger).

I was very happy. Turns out, I congratulated myself too soon (you’ll see a screenshot documenting that 🙄…🙄). Anyways, after posting that resolution tease, I enjoyed a brief honeymoon phase...then I updated to 10.5 last week. I think they’re broken again. I won’t know for sure until tomorrow when the LE notification is supposed to be sent but I have a bad feeling.

You see, I also have Goal Notifications toggled on, which aren’t super useful and wouldn’t otherwise be relevant, except I noticed that they actually serve as a convenient bellwether. They apparently broke at the same time my limited edition notifications broke. I just didn’t notice until I fixed them both at the same time.

Ever since the update, guess who’s not receiving goal notifications. (Me. 😕) And, I haven’t been able to get them to work again.

Anyways, it’d be helpful to know whether I’m an outlier.

Will be checking out that section on a regular basis from now on. :-)

I just set up a google notification with keywords: apple watch limited edition. Macrumors tends to publish a news article announcing limited edition challenges a week or so in advance. If this works like I think it will, I should get an email every time they publish a new story. Then I can set up an iCal reminder for myself. A little convoluted…but I’m not exactly the most detail-oriented person in the world, so I can really use all the automated heads-up I can get!! 😁

For all of us, who wanted to earn the Lunar New Year badge year of the Wood Dragon here it is - according to my research in Mac World some of the badges are being discontinued if they’re not recognized as an event or holiday in the United States-how sad is that. Apple IT for the Watch did a great job making their fitness app fun, now it’s going to the wayside, I speak for our users. Please bring back all of the badges from the past. There are many of them and they’re fun to earn. Apple Watch IT started designing badges in 2015. Please please please bring them all back for us !

Apple timely responding to issues seems to be sporadic. I had an Intel MacBook where the Wi-Fi would repeatedly disconnect a few minutes after booting OS X, but Wi-Fi was rock solid if booting into Windows. I followed the issue up through several levels of customer support and got an answer that it would be fixed eventually. There were more than 100 people on the discussion thread with the same issue. Eventually fixed tuned out to be about two years later. My use of Apple products goes back to 1980 supporting Apple ][ machines used for signal acquisition in a neuroscience lab.

I’m not sure how closely humans at Apple follow the discussions web site. Hopefully filling out the feedback web page will be more likely to get attention after it makes it past any initial AI filtering.

My Point is that Apple most likely doesn’t pay attention to anything on discussions. Even if you do provide feedback and even personally talk to the upper tiers of support, a resolution may not happen right away, if at all, despite many customers being impacted.

When usability issues such as non-woking Wi-Fi can take years to fix, something tells me not expect quick action on the challenge badges.

There are notifications. You can set them up with other fitness app notifications. I’m not sure if anyone else already had them set up but stopped receiving them.

This happened to me. Actually, I stopped receiving them around a year ago, but just a few days ago I posted a question on this forum asking for help. I didn’t get a response and hardly any views, so I figured this meant I was an outlier.

Anyways, I think I ended up solving the issue for myself. I’m getting notifications from the fitness app again. I hadn’t even realized that all notifications from the fitness app had ceased. I only noticed that I wasn’t receiving the limited edition notifications. I had missed a few previous challenges and that was annoying. But after troubleshooting, I started receiving notifications about reaching daily goals.

According to a news report I saw announcing International Dance Day Challenge for this year, the badge is scheduled to be visible in the app today (04.27) (I posted screenshots in this thread this morning), and the notification is scheduled for tomorrow (04.28).

Tomorrow will be my first opportunity to test if I’m receiving limited edition challenge notifications from the fitness app. If I do, then I was planning to update my post with the solution just so there would a record…you know, for posterity. lol.

Then, by luck/coincidence, I saw the post from @hseth saying they had notifications set up but missing challenges. It wasn’t clear if they’re not receiving the notifications at all. That’s why I asked about that in my previous post. It’s still not clear to me if other ppl are having this issue. I don’t want to clog up this thread with irrelevant info about solving a problem only I seemed to have. But I can post about it here if I get feedback that it could help others…you know, in the present. 🙃

Hi @javaheed,

These are screenshots from my watch on 2024.04.27 (~3 weeks ago). In this case, the placeholder badge and description became available to view two days before the Intl Dance Day Challenge.

Is this representative of the feature (logic flow) you think has changed?

I would propose the following preliminary test protocol : Check your badge list on 06.03 and 06.04.
