Inability to download Word on Mac

When I try to download Word from the App Store, "macOS version 12 or later is required" so it will not download. I updated the mac last week after getting the same message. When I check for software updates now, it appears up to date with version 11.7.10 so I can't update it further.

Your Mac is probably too old to upgrade to Monterey. If you want to double-check:

If you can't upgrade your Mac far enough to run the Microsoft 365/Office applications, you might want to download LibreOffice. It's free (although the people who work on it are happy to accept donations) – and I believe the current version will run on Catalina or later.
