Apple Books- Switching modes changes font size. How to stop that?

Before the last software update (17.2), when I change from light mode to dark mode (or visa versa) the font also changes size. I tried customizing but you can’t control the font size in there. I really hate these extra steps (and I’m also not a big fan of the new set up: so many more steps now- including changing the font back. The old version worked perfect imho) Any tips? Thanks!

Dimming screen in IBooks Is there a mechanism for dimming the font when reading on the iBooks app? Apple seems to have done a redesign of iBooks and you can no longer dim the font/letters on the page (or I can't figure out how). I realize that I am able to adjust the background to black, light, etc. but the letters on the page are so incredibly bright, particularly in the darker background fonts. You used to be able to dim the entire page so that it was not so intense, particularly when you are trying to read at night and wind down. the app changed, and the loss of this feature is significant. I know how to choose the setting the theme settings, and the dark mode, but we’ve lost the ability to customize the brightness of the font on the page.

iBooks Font Size Option Missing iOS 16.3.1 iPad Font size is very small in some books and immediately following the 16.3.1 update the ability to increase font size has disappeared. Tried restart, looked in settings, unable to locate. Are others experiencing this and is there a fix ?
