I forgot my charger while traveling and bought a new one, along with a new USB-C cable, from the Apple Store.
On returning home I've tried the new USB-C cable with my old 87w charger and it doesn't work but works fine with the 70w.
How can this be and is there any fix?

Sounds like the " old 87w charge" has failed... no(?)
