Can I Use iPhone 20W Adapter & Samsung USB-C Cable to Charge MacBook Air M3 15

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 15-inch MacBook Air M3 demo unit, so I was aware that it wouldn’t come with a charger or adapter. Unfortunately, buying a new Apple charger and cable is a bit expensive for me right now.

I have a 20W Apple iPhone USB-C adapter and a Samsung USB-C to USB-C cable.

Can I safely use this combination to charge my MacBook Air M3?

I understand that it might charge slowly, but I just want to be sure it won’t damage the MacBook or battery.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

it could never damage the battery, but it might not trigger the charging at all

the spcs say 35watt is what it came with

the thing is with charging is if the charging system of the macbook attempts to draw more current from the charger than it can provide then the charger will begin to lower the voltage and when it gets lower than X the charging will stop

I’m considering purchasing the Apple 1-meter USB-C Charge Cable (60W, woven design, white) along with the Apple 35W Dual USB-C Port Power Adapter. I would like to confirm whether this combination is fully compatible with the MacBook Air M3 15-inch model in terms of safe and efficient charging.

Would this setup provide optimal charging performance for the device, or is a higher-wattage adapter recommended for better efficiency?

Appreciate any insights or official guidance on this.

Thank you!

Yes.

However, if you want to take advantage of the fast charging capability of the Mac, you will need a 70 Watt adapter and cable.
