🚨 MacOs 14.3.1 Sonoma Bug, Can't see or unhide hidden purchases on Mac App Store, Music and TV App?

🚨 I have discovered a major bug since I have updated to the latest version of macOS 14.3.1 Sonoma.

When I open the Mac App Store app, Music app, or TV app and I go to my acccount and click on "manage" under the Heading "Hidden Items - Deleted Purchases, Unhide any hidden, re-downloable Purchases".

So After I click on manage it goes to the Apple Music app and says "You do not have any purchased music available to download." So the problem is I have purchased Apps, Music and Movies and now I can't see or unhide any hidden purchases. So on 16 Feb 2024 I was still on macOS 14.2.1 and I could see and unhide hidden purchases and when I updated to macOS 14.3.1 on 17 Feb 2024 that's when the bug started where I could no longer see or unhide any hidden purchases from the Mac App Store app, Music app, or TV app.

  • Question: Will this bug be fixed for the next macOS Update 13.4 and who else is experiencing this?

Special Thanks to Apple Support Community, Apple Support Technical and Apple Software Update Team!

Screenshot 1: This is in Mac App Store, Music and TV app when you click on manage under hidden items.

Screenshot 2: This is the bug, you can't see or unhide purchases.

Screenshot 3: Here is an YouTube example once Apple fix this bug with update, you will see all hidden purchases Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, and Audio Books.

Same problem here and, likewise, the "Reviews and Ratings" link, among others, also disappeared in the account section of the Mac App Store.

I bet this mess is somehow related to the DMA law and the split of the Store for EU customers even though as a Swiss citizen living in Switzerland this should not concern me.

That being said, here is a temporary workaround!

  1. Go to macOS System Settings
  2. Click your Account Name (Apple ID) at the top
  3. Click Media & Purchases
  4. Click Manage… on the right of your account name

That way, you will open the old User Settings panel in the Mac App Store which is functional. You may have to retry some links a few time because the thing is still buggy, it may tell you that you have not access to this or that, but after a few tries I was able to access all the sections which are either broken or simply missing in the most recent version.

100% 💯 Real ✅ Solution 👍 Hidden purchases for all 3 apps. Attention: All @Apple Support Communities

Good News: There is an easy solution to get hidden purchases and unhide them on the App Store/Music/TV app.

Bad News: You will have to do this each time you go out of the app because Apple has not 100% fixed this bug.

Quick Note: First thing to do before you follow the solution below. No. 1 - Sign out of your Account on the App Store, Music App, and TV app. No. 2 - Update your Mac to the latest macOS (At the moment this is macOS 14.4).

STEP by STEP - Read all text instructions and check screenshots for a visual explanation of the solution:

  1. Go to App Store App or Music App or TV App
  2. Go to Account and then select Account Settings and Sign in to your account
  3. Scroll Down and then select Edit Nickname/Create Nickname
  4. Click on the Cancel button when Edit Nickname appears
  5. Scroll Up on your Account Settings to Hidden Items/Downloads and Purchases and then click on Manage under Deleted Purchases/Hidden Purchases
  6. Here is the happy moment now you can see your hidden purchases
  7. If you close the app or restart or shut down your Mac you will need to repeat steps 1-6 for hidden purchases.

Closing: The last time I spoke with Apple Support Senior Advisers they told me that the Apple Technicians are investigating this bug, and they will probably fix it with an internal update or a future macOS update. Apple fix this!

Special Thanks: Apple, Apple Support Community, Apple Senior Advisers, Apple Support, and Apple Technicians.

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone will today be able to get hidden purchases. Please let me know.

Thanks so much! I was going mad! I casually discovered this bug about two months ago. Tried to fix it by myself in every way, with no avail. Frustrated, I contacted Apple Support three times, and they made me do the impossible (with some three or four hours on the phone) without fixing anything. At the fourth ticket opening, a technician, at last, confessed me that the issue wasn't on my system, that many other people had addressed this and that it would have fixed in the next update (macOs was 14.3). I hoped that 14.4 would have made the miracle, but nope! Luckily, the miracle is now! Now I can wait the fixing update, whenever should it be! Thanks again!

Good lord, I thought I was going mad (and the only one), because accessing Hidden Purchases on Apple Music for Windows is working perfectly fine. I wouldn't have even known this bug existed if I hadn't accidentally hidden some songs. Logged out and logged back in, restarted my laptop, and even tried reinstalling the macOS (quit midway bc it was taking too long). Two Apple Support tickets later and while they unhid the needed songs, they never directly address the bug despite sharing my screen and showing them.

Really hope they fix this soon :/

With all due respect but we already know how to access our purchase history, the main issue here is that we can’t access the hidden purchases, aka stuff that we deleted from our library but still hidden.

The chances of Apple Support actually reading the feedback forms are rather slim, I only submitted on the off chance that they would notice, but it’s says on the page itself that they’ll only really reach out if enough people raise a stink about it. I also submitted two tickets regarding this issue and they really haven’t addressed the core issue so it’s either a bug that’s going to be fixed in the next macOS update or something that’s not going to be address at all. Who knows.

Hey,

Having same or similar issues +

  1. This is my new MBP 2021
  2. I have tried to authorize old purchased files (from 2006) besides my old MBP which is only one authorized device
  3. System saying "authorized" 1 of 5
  4. When browsing account settings seems like I see "shortened" view in comparable to old MBP
  5. So my problem is as described before + authorization issue

I have deleted all cache etc and rebooted, logged and reloaded, authorized and de-reauthorized...same.

Good I have found this post.

Thanks

Did you try a few times?

I think first time I tried it was also empty but now it works every time.

If it still doesn't work, sorry, I thought the trick would work for pretty much everyone.

Apple really needs to fix this, and they need to improve this whole management panel in my opinion, because even if it still works on iOS / iPadOS for example (but only to manage iOS / iPadOS apps), some stuff is really not adapted to the smaller screens (on the iPad mini 6 for example, you have to scroll horizontally to display some hidden stuff which sits outside of the viewport). This whole thing really looks old and out of place.

When I discovered this bug, it was only five days ago. And now that I look up the release date of the OS, it was only released on Feb 8th. Welp. I’m just lucky I have a Windows PC as an alternative to access them, as inconvenient as it will be for the time being.

That being said, there’s a similar bug on the iOS where I can access the Hidden Purchases on Apple Music but it only downloads the songs but doesn’t actually unhide them. Just frustrating all around. I think that not only is this a bug on macOS, something is also not working with Apple’s servers that’s not showing up on their maintenance page.

This is the exact problem I experienced a month ago. I had also upgraded to Sonoma, and a month ago, I lost all my purchases and have not been able to get them back. I used to be able to hide/delete movies and music, and then log back into my account to unhide/re-download them whenever I wanted to watch something. But now whenever I click on "manage" hidden purchases, it opens the music app and nothing is shown in hidden items.

I was really angry, but marinusdenton described it perfectly. I will try the steps this user has listed, or wait until the bug is fixed with another update.

This Sonoma bug better get fixed soon in the next update. This bug is really affecting my 2019 MacBook Pro, which I've noticed in Account Settings in App Store and Apple TV whenever I click on "Manage' under Hidden Items that it automatically launches the Apple Music app instead. In addition, 'Computer Authorization' information has gone missing, which at first when the glitch affected my computer. All it said was 'One machine is authorized to play content purchased with this account'. Before that, my account was working perfectly.

kmfamily Thanks for your comment. 🙏 When did you realise you also had this bug, like how many days ago?

It is great to be part of a community like Apple Support Community.

We are not alone but we are all together in this and the time will come to pass for this to be fixed.

Like I mentioned a day before I was on macOS 14.2.1 it work and the next day I updated to macOS 14.3.1 I got this bug. So I am like 99.9% sure the bug has to do with the macOS 14.3.1 update so they have work on this for the next one. I believe they will fix this in the next update macOS 14.4. Let's all remain hopeful in Apple Team.

Important Note: The more people who comments they have the same bug, will help this case. Feel free to post.
