Unable to read my newspaper on Safari

For years I have read my local newspaper online via a daily email. Every day this week the screen reboots back to the home page with the message "this website was reloaded because it was using significant memory". I'm only able to read a page for 30 seconds before I get kicked back to the home page. No other app or email does this happen to. Is it my laptop or my newspapers email?

Welcome!

As none of the end users here know what underlying technology was used to create and support your paper's web site, it is hard to remotely diagnose this.

I think you have to contact your papers support people first. It is possible they changed something, inducing a bug. The fact that you have been able to reach the site before without issue suggests someone at their end "fouled the footpath."

Have you tried a different browser like FireFox to see if the problem persists?

Can you confirm this involves the Macbook Air running macOS 14.3 as shown in your equipment line. I have to ask because a forum software bug shows the wrong equipment about half the time.

What you can do from your end is to make sure that:

  • you restart the computer and test.
  • you are not running any anti-virus, so-called "cleaning" apps, or client-side VPNs.
  • that your storage has at least 15% free space. (from "About this Mac... > Storage tab)
  • that you are not running more than one ad blocker.
