New ssd hard drive in MacBook Pro mid 2010

I replaced the old original hard drive in my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) with a new 1T ssd hard drive. I had a tech guy put it in for me. After it was installed and the operating system installed, it has not run well. The fan continues to run and I cannot transfer any old files to the “new” hard drive. I recently upgraded the ram to 8gb as well.

I will note that I don’t know if the hard drive was formatted before it was put in. Any tips on how to reformat would be appreciated. I have tried to partition the drive, but it does not seem to help.

Any help to get it working smoothly would be great.

I recommend opening Apple's Disk Utility to reformat the drive. Some drives come with their own installed maintenance apps. They most often cause problems in Macs. Never use them. Maybe one was used to do the initial format. Then you can reinstall the operating system. I hope this helps you.
