CPU spikes when opening video in streaming services

I have a brand new MacBook m3 pro 36 gb that is not functioning properly.

As an example I can't close and open videos in Netflix and AppleTV without the machine lagging and causing CPU spikes. Sometimes the laptop slows down so much that even writing in gmail and word lags.

Im really wondering what to do. I ran EtreCheck which confirmed CPU spikes and heavy ram usage as minor issues.

I use onedrive.

I took screenshots of the CPU spikes on the streaming services for reference

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.3

I might expect to see more red in the Activity Monitor...(?)

i would disable One-drive to remove it from the equation if in doubt—

third-party sync software like: OneDrive, GoogleDrive, BackBlaze or DropBox

are known to cause issues...

Uninstall any and all third party Antivirus, Cleaners, Optimizers, VPN, speeder uppers....

all known to cause issues on the macOS.

if you still have an issue

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

unplug all non-essential third party peripherals when testing

if no resolve than yes I would try uninstalling the OneDrive, seems logical and compare your results.
