I cannot airplay to my Apple TV 3rd generation device from my iPhone or iPad

I cannot airplay to my Apple TV 3 rd generation device from my iPhone or iPad . This has become a problem since I got a new modem router.

Thank you , I tried all those steps and cannot AirPlay. My Apple TV is connecting and I can access streaming services. I just can’t airplay from my iPhone to my Apple TV.

  1. Try the steps as mentioned in: If your Apple TV can't connect to Wi-Fi - Apple Support
  2. Try the ‘Other…’ option instead of selecting a listed discovered network. Especially if the password has been changed under the same network name.
  3. For Apple TV (4th generation or earlier), verify that the router or access point isn’t set to use WPA3, as only device models from ~2018 or later support that. Instead use ‘WPA2/WPA3 Transitional’. Some users report that they had to set ‘WPA2’-only first.

  • Verify that the Apple TV box is activated with an Apple ID. If not, that would be mentioned in Settings﹥General﹥About﹥ (last line: Activation: Failed, if applicable).
  • Verify that both devices connect to the same logical network. For Wi-Fi: that they use the exact same SSID network name. If the router creates separate networks under different names, then devices on different segments cannot communicate with each other. It is not advised to split in SSIDs per band (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz). Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support
  • Verify that AirPlay receiver functionality is still switched on in Settings﹥AirPlay﹥.
  • Verify that the streaming services of choice support this model Apple TV box. Some services require a later model (AirPlay 2 compatible). Usually their support site will mention AirPlay system requirements.
