How to fix Instagram not loading on Safari in my Mac?

Instagram pages will not load on safari for my iMac. I've tried everything.

Restarted my computer

Erased my website data

Private browsing

For some reason it will let me log into instagram but I can't access my profile or anyone else's. Every time I click on someone's profile either safari goes black or the screen doesn't load. This is very frustrating as I work as a social media manager and sometimes I need to use my desktop. Has anyone else had this problem? It just randomly started yesterday.

I'm glad someone else is having this problem. For some reason a few days ago Instagram won't load my profile page or and other pages/searches, all I see is the home page. It would be good if I could find a solution. I've tried different browsers, removed cookies and re-booted my Mac all with no effect.

Further update. I had previously tried many web browsers including Firefox which didn't work. However, I have just logged into Firefox again and it is now working i.e. I can load my instagram profile and Instagram is working OK. Fingers crossed that it stays that way. It's possible (I'm not sure) that instagram are rolling out fixes so Safari may soon be OK again.

same issue here. running Safari on an older Mac running Mojave. tried clearing history, etc,. but also experiencing the same issue running Safari on my laptop that is also running Mojave.

There are indeed workarounds to installing newer OSX on Macs that are no longer officially supported, which I might get around to eventually.

fingers crossed something changes and maybe things will magically work for us down the line

But in the meantime, my workaround is to use Firefox!

I just upgraded my 2015 MacBook from Mojave to Monterey. (after a few other apps required me to do so), and must say, IG is working better in Safari than ever before. If you think about it, the problem we all encountered is probably a result of IG changing it's code somewhat, coupled with running an old version of Safari, and unfortunately, it's kinda doubtful either company will address the issue. Apple has a version of Safari that does work, but requires upgrading your OS, simple as that unfortunately. If your computer is too old to upgrade from Apple, look into upgrading via Open Core. see video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-huRykhjs6g

Thank you!!! Updating Safari on Monterey totally fixed it for me after weeks o this problem!!!

1) Follow the instructions. At first, there was only an update for Monterey under "More info" (as shown in the link instructions). I'm currently on Monterey, so I'm guessing the update is the last release of Monterey, so I did that.

2) Once the Monterey update wa complete, an new update for Safari appeared in the "More Info" section. I updated that as well.

3) Not sure if I had to but I restarted my computer anyways, and once I opened the updated Safari, I logged. in to IG and it FINALLY opened!!!

Hope this helps :).

Bit of background here: On an older iMac 2012 21" using Catalina 10.15.7. My Mac crashed constant spinning ball of death and kernel panics. Deleted drive and used a 7 week old Time Machine back up as my current user account wasn't functioning but problem persisted so deleted hard drive and reinstalled Catalina today without doing a transfer from my back up. Usually I use Brave or Chrome but my older Mac doesn't do well with Chrome so I use Brave a lot because I like having the Instagram status bar feature extension added so I can move the status bar while watching fitness videos on Instagram.

So today I'm on a new user account and tried to use Instagram with Safari and can only see other accounts from the back end but can't go to anyones profile and load the home page. I just installed Brave and Instagram is working on there. Still hoping I find a solution for the Safari browser.
