How to fix Instagram not loading on Safari in my Mac?

Instagram pages will not load on safari for my iMac. I've tried everything.

Restarted my computer

Erased my website data

Private browsing

For some reason it will let me log into instagram but I can't access my profile or anyone else's. Every time I click on someone's profile either safari goes black or the screen doesn't load. This is very frustrating as I work as a social media manager and sometimes I need to use my desktop. Has anyone else had this problem? It just randomly started yesterday.

I'm glad someone else is having this problem. For some reason a few days ago Instagram won't load my profile page or and other pages/searches, all I see is the home page. It would be good if I could find a solution. I've tried different browsers, removed cookies and re-booted my Mac all with no effect.

Yeah, upgrading to a newer vintage version of the Mac OS appears to be a fix of sorts, but many people such as myself are on older macs that can't upgrade. I myself have a mid-2012 macbook pro and can't upgrade beyond Catalina. The fix needs to come in the Safari browser. Other browsers such as Brave work fine for me, so we know it can be fixed.

So now Instagram won't open at all as of Sat eve (3/23). Having an older unsupported Mac I have looked up people's suggestions regarding a forced upgrade using OpenCore. The video I watched did it by erasing their computer, although they said you didn't have to do this. Having all my research and texts for books I'm working on saved on my computer, needless to say, that option does not sound too attractive.

So here's another issue: I have a blogpost on my Instagram account, and since this started in late February, I have noticeably less engagement. There are probably tons of people out there not even entertaining an upgrade -- they will just stop using Instagram. Seems like something worth fixing. Additionally, the little-used Facebook still functions well, but they're both Meta, right?

Big thanks youarenot!!! Updating Safari on Monterey totally fixed it for me after weeks with this problem!!!

1) Followed your link's instructions. https://browserhow.com/how-to-update-safari-without-upgrading-macos/

At first, there was only an update for Monterey under "More info". I'm currently on Monterey, so I'm guessing the update is the last release of Monterey, so I did that.

2) Once the Monterey update was complete, an new update for Safari appeared in the "More Info" section. I updated that as well.

3) Not sure if I had to but I restarted my computer anyways, and once I opened the updated Safari, I logged in to IG and it FINALLY was back to normal!!!

Hope this helps :).

I trust you are all well and have solved the inconveniences you have been experiencing with Instagram if not, I write to share the following regarding my recent post.

Instagram page not loading and the limited accessibility to some functions using Safari 14.1.2

This process could include other browsers which may require updating.

The issue is now solved on my part. Instagram is functioning as before using the process and the steps to consider are as follows.

Steps:-

  1. You may need to update your browser only. If this not possible, the likelihood will be your current OS.
  2. It was necessary for me update from OS Mojave, 10.14.6 to OS Monterey 12.7.4. *Product: MBPR 15, Late 2015. (This may include equally, iMac's, 2015).
  3. If and when you do update (noting the products* above) please go to Launchpad as you may need to update iMovie (to the last compatible version associated with your product) and other applications which you may be currently and using.

I hope the information above is helpful and thank all of you who kindly replied and offered assistance when I needed it.

You are very, very kind and I am grateful for your support.

I wish you all well and please do post and let me know how you get on from here.

With many thanks and kind regards.
