How to fix Instagram not loading on Safari in my Mac?

Instagram pages will not load on safari for my iMac. I've tried everything.

Restarted my computer

Erased my website data

Private browsing

For some reason it will let me log into instagram but I can't access my profile or anyone else's. Every time I click on someone's profile either safari goes black or the screen doesn't load. This is very frustrating as I work as a social media manager and sometimes I need to use my desktop. Has anyone else had this problem? It just randomly started yesterday.

I'm glad someone else is having this problem. For some reason a few days ago Instagram won't load my profile page or and other pages/searches, all I see is the home page. It would be good if I could find a solution. I've tried different browsers, removed cookies and re-booted my Mac all with no effect.

IG issues started March -3, 2024

(1) Profile will not load.

(2) Create will not load.

(3) Notifications will not load.

(4) Explore will not load.

(5) The 'Hamburger' Icon will not load and allow access.

(6) When clicking on followers/contacts the outer coloured circular wheel continues infinitely and does not load the

contacts page. The Status bar below the IG logo continues to change colour however, the sequence does not

end with the loading of the contacts page.

All that does load is:-

(7) Home

(8) Requests

(9) Search

(10) Reels (Loads after 10/15 seconds)

(11) Messages

(12)Your Messages

This is happening on MBP's and iMac. I'm using Safari 14.12 (Mojave 10.14.6) and Safari 15.6 (Catalina)

The issues above are not taking place on the iPhone. All functions operate and without issue. IOS Version, 16.7.6

I have used other browsers and cleared the cache, the same issues occur.

I am unable to gain any insight in the IG help centre.

If you have had the same issues and managed to resolved them, please do let me know.

With kind thanks.

I've got to think that this is a problem for so many more people who don't know where to complain. I have a 2017 MacBook, so 5 years newer than yours, but an upgrade is no longer supported (I'm stuck at Big Sur). We can't be the only people with laptops older than 5 years. For now, I'm keeping Chrome in my dock that I'm using for Instagram only. It's silly.

Now I'm having the same problem with using the messenger on Facebook via the facebook app. All the rest works fine, but if I try to access the messages menu on facebook it shows me just blank windows. It works fine via the facebook messenger app, and it all works fine using Google Chrome, but not if I'm using Safari. I still receive and can see the notifications and replies to my posts on Facebook, but as soon as I click the messages tab to see if I have some, I'm shown a list of friends, but If I click on one of them, the messages window appears blank.

Not as far as I can tell. Based on the small number of complaints and people on this conversation maybe there aren't that many people still using older computers and older versions of the software? I can't upgrade my 2012 laptop any more than it already is. So using Chrome for now. Can't figure out how to check with Instagram. Thinking they really don't care about a handful of people with old computers. :(

Exact same issue here. Running a 2017 MacBook Air, Monterey OS, Safari 15.3. Impossible to create posts on IG (just an empty blank screen), which is a very big drag for posting photos edited on the computer. Also impossible to see my own or any other profile. Why is this not fixed?? And why can't we update Safari without risking an OS update???

Yeah, upgrading to a newer vintage version of the Mac OS appears to be a fix of sorts, but many people such as myself are on older macs that can't upgrade. I myself have a mid-2012 macbook pro and can't upgrade beyond Catalina. The fix needs to come in the Safari browser. Other browsers such as Brave work fine for me, so we know it can be fixed.
