requested a new number and now apple purchases are declined

I have requested a new Apple Card number from my phone due to a suspicious charge and now a purchase from Apple is getting declined. My phone and my desktop computer show a different Apple Card number. When I go to manage my card in the App Store, there's a third number. How and where do I fix this?

That’s the way it’s supposed to be. Apple Pay gives a different number to each device for security purposes. The Apple App Store uses the virtual number that is associated with the card in your Apple Wallet.

Apple Card is unique in the credit card industry. It has three different numbers associated with the account. The virtual number that is revealed in Apple Wallet on your device. Each device you add the card to will also have its own unique number. Lastly, the number used when you use the chip or magnetic strip, is a totally different number.

If a charge is declined at the Apple App Store (iTunes etc), please contact Apple Support team so it can be straightened out. The Apple Support article I linked to below will explain the process.

Apple Card Mastercard is a co-branded credit card. Information about your card is limited and what is shared would be encrypted and Apple would not have the key to decrypt.

The issue is really the subscription. Most credit cards use a service the network offers (Mastercard in case of Apple Card) to use the same number for subscriptions, so they don’t have to be updated. Somehow, your subscription did not get updated like it should have and now the decline.

Easy way to fix this is cancel subscription and then start it again with the new number. You could also contact billing support and they might be able to correct the account number.

I’ve linked several Apple Support articles that will serve as a guide.

Apple Card has three sets of numbers. The only full set of numbers you have access to is for the virtual card in the Wallet app on your iPhone. The physical card (both chip and magnetic stripe) have a different set of numbers and lastly there is a different set for Apple Pay payments when you use your iPhone and Tap-To-Pay. You only have access to the last for digits of the physical card number and Apple Pay number.

Have you talked to an Apple Cash Specialist about your issue? If so, what did they say? Ordering a card wouldn’t seem to be your issue. The virtual card number can be changed at anytime in your Wallet app.

The declined charge is for an Apple TV subscription. I followed the instructions and removed my Apple Card and added the new card in. There isn't a way to resubmit the charge, or retry the payment. My issue here is: Apple assigns me a new card number, and the charge is declined with "Card Replaced" in red. So Apple knows I have a new number and still the charge won't go through. This seems like a process that needs to be seamless on Apple's side. Apple Card, Apple Product, Apple Store, and yet I have to contact support? I understand if I am using the card for an Amazon purchase--I'd have to update the number there and by the way, which number would I update? The number on my phone? The number on my desktop? So dumb. Probably easier to stop using the Apple Card altogether.

I'm having a similar problem. My card kept getting declined at various businesses, so I requested a new card. Then I noticed that the card number, which I was getting from my Wallet app and have used in the past, was not working when I tried to pay for things online. So I requested a new number, and now that one is not working, either. What is going on???
