iCloud Family Sharing, Still Being Charged for Personal Plan

I shared my iCloud storage to my wife, and she accepted. When I look on both our iCloud pages, it says we're both participating in Family Sharing, and we are the only two participating. But my wife is (apparently) still being charged monthly for the personal 200GB iCloud plan she was on. I'm reluctant to cancel her personal plan for fear of losing her data, but I had assumed her accepting my sharing invitation would initiate her personal plan being cancelled.

First question, should her accepting my sharing invitation have cancelled her personal storage? Second question, how can I (or is there a way I can) verify her data is stored under our shared plan?

No. not automatically. She needs to choose to use the shared plan. Do not cancel her plan have her choose to us the shared plan, and when she does, he plan should be automatically cancelled.

On her iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

In iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 later:

  1. Go to Settings > Family.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap iCloud+.
  4. Tap Use Family Storage.

In iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 or earlier:

  1. Go to Settings > [your name].
  2. Tap Family Sharing, then tap iCloud+.
  3. Tap Use Family Storage.

Second question, how can I (or is there a way I can) verify her data is stored under our shared plan?

Once actually selected, the Storage plan will appear in her iCloud Settings as being used, with the full storage amount available.

As mentioned above, when she chooses to use the Shared iCloud storage her own subscription should be cancelled by the system yes.

From the article linked above:

When they switch to the shared family plan, they get a refund for the

remainder of their personal plan. They can't keep their current plan and

use the shared family plan at the same time.
