Messages not all coming to MacPro

Recently got a new MacBook Pro. My iphone and mac messages use to be a complete mirror of each other. Now, 2 things are happening:

1) my messages on my mac are ONLY if the person is on an Iphone. So any android messages are not showing on my Mac

2) I am changing someones phone in contacts to be an iphone, save the edit, and then it changes it back to a non-iphone.

Help? Thoughts? Appreciate it.

At some point while you had your old Mac, you configured text message forwarding on your iPhone to that particular Mac. Well you just need to that again, but this time forward those messages to your new Mac. Here is an Apple article with instructions:

SMS/MMS messages are a cell phone thing. Your Mac isn't a cell phone. So it can only send and receive those messages with help from another device – an iPhone that handles the interactions with the cellular network.

it worked with your old mac because you had text messaging forwarding going to that device, you'll need to do the same thing for your new Macbook Pro.
