Issues connecting to cellular data on iPhone After Update

Today I updated my iPhone form iOS 16.0 to 17.4. When I opened my phone I found that I was no longer connected to my cellular data. When my wifi is off and my cellular is on, I get popups saying “Cellular Data is Turned Off.” I also keep getting popups to update my carrier settings but when I click update it shows me the popup a second time. Then, it appears again a few minutes later. Something to note is that I am currently on roaming since I am out of my home country.

So far I’ve tried:

  1. restarting my phone
  2. resetting network settings
  3. deleting any vpns in settings
  4. updating my carrier in settings (this did not appear)
  5. manually setting my provider since i’m on roaming
  6. contacting tmobile support (they said ask apple)

Any idea what I could do to fix this issue? Haven’t found anyone on here with the same problem.

Today I found my network just stopped working. No message, no warning - just no cellular network. Come on Apple - how can an IOS update lose focus of the very basic needs of a mobile phone…. No excuse. Please sort this out asap. It had a massive impact on my work day! 🤯

I fixed it by activating WiFi calling. For now I can make and receive calls within my home. Not sure if I will be able to do this outside my home once I connect to cellular. There are also other issues, like known callers to my phone no longer show the caller ID. Also when I call known callers they don’t see my caller id either, only my phone number. For now, I will call important contacts and advise them of the problem. Texting seems to be working ok. Gotta go to work, so I will need to research this further later

I've tried doing a full reset through Mac without restoring any backup. Now the first time configuration enters in a loop indicating that I have parcial configuration and recommending to reset the device again. Done that, and showed the same thing after the second full reset.

No positive results after that. I have the same issues.

Tomorrow I'm going to an Apple Store asking for a solution because my device has less than one year of use and now it's unusable. I've bought a phone and I need a working one.

I have seen a massive amount of issues with this update.

My phone crashed mid-way through my update, forcing me to force an update on a computer. Which was no big deal, but it continued to crash and the Apple symbol on my phone just keeps blinking on and off. I was on with Apple support for over an hour, and the ultimate consensus was that it was too far gone, and I needed to send my phone in for repair.. all over an update...

Finally, I went to Apple Store and they saw a kernel panic in live apart from the issues mentioned. After some analysis, they conclude that the main board of the iPhone is failing and they proceed with the repair. Luckily, my iPhone was still in warranty period, so it was free of charge.

I hope that my broken board was due to factory defects and not due to the update, because the estimated amount for repair without warranty nor Apple Care is considerable. The new board has iOS 17.3, so I won't do any update until next version.

I updated my IPhone 13 to IOS 17.4 yesterday and it was fine until today. Phone keeps randoms restarting itself and I got the Cellular error message. Contacted Apple support and proceeded to Restart the phone, reset network, check for update, (not sure why but they wanted me to) Connect to a computer and put my phone in recovery mode and reinstall the 17.4 update. And still same issue. WiFi works fine but cellular data is just a wave searching for signal. Now I have to go to an Apple certified tech tomorrow and see if there is anything they can do. The phone is still under warranty so any charges should be free. Bottom line DONT INSTALL 17.4.

Same for me with my iMessage and FaceTime not working. Since updating it’s just not activating, just spinning. I’ve been in contact with both my network provider and Apple. I was on the phone with Apple support for 2 hours trying to explain the issue, they have had to raise it with engineers in the US as they couldn’t resolve it, they refused to indicate it was an update issue when I questioned it however. I updated to 17.4 before bed and noticed it wasn’t working in the morning.

I did all the standard things, soft resetting, network reset, and it’s happening in both my eSIM and physical sim both different providers (same network) but I believe it’s the update that’s done this.
