Issues connecting to cellular data on iPhone After Update

Today I updated my iPhone form iOS 16.0 to 17.4. When I opened my phone I found that I was no longer connected to my cellular data. When my wifi is off and my cellular is on, I get popups saying “Cellular Data is Turned Off.” I also keep getting popups to update my carrier settings but when I click update it shows me the popup a second time. Then, it appears again a few minutes later. Something to note is that I am currently on roaming since I am out of my home country.

So far I’ve tried:

  1. restarting my phone
  2. resetting network settings
  3. deleting any vpns in settings
  4. updating my carrier in settings (this did not appear)
  5. manually setting my provider since i’m on roaming
  6. contacting tmobile support (they said ask apple)

Any idea what I could do to fix this issue? Haven’t found anyone on here with the same problem.

Ok, listen up:

After the 17.4 update i lost my service or at best it was very spotty. My number couldnt be verified, i wasn't able to receive or make most calls, and my iMessage went to green messages for everyone (even wouldn't send at times). I spent about 6 hours collectively trying to resolve the issue, 5 of those being on the phone with apple support and my carrier and we tried e v e r y t h i n g. Resetting my number, network settings, phone, iMessage, FT, running diagnostics, etc. We even switched me to an eSIM.

FACTORY RESET. I tried this as a last resort on my own before using my refurbished phone warranty to simply replace the device, and boom, everything is fixed. I did choose the “keep eSIM and erase data” option under reset.

Anyways, super frustrating issue and I imagine it can only be due to the update, but yup, save your time and fix it by backing up and resetting.

Im having the weirdest issue, whenever LTE or 5G is on I have no cellular data. However if I dial to someone the data automatically switches to 3G and then I do have data. So what I’m doing is just dialing a number with an automated menu and stay there until booted off, only way for me to have internet on my phone at the moment . I’ll stop by the Apple Store tomorrow, so annoying.

Same issues, updated software to 17.4.1 .. No cellular data. Went to carrier they try inserted a new E sim card and could not they, then they replaced physical Simm card with a new one and phone still did not have cellular data. Then went to Apple store they did full diagnostic on phone twice, then rebooted phone twice and, was told there nothing wrong with phone, but still had not cellular data, and it was a carrier issue. Not the case. It is defiantly software issue with Apple. I switched from android user to apple user in January 2024 and so far, not impress with support. in future will not be supporting Apple platform and products, going back to android.

I have the exact same issue. Also iPhone 11. I have tried everything: restarting my phone, resetting network settings, software updates, even restore my phone. I even went past a repair shop, and they checked my device antenna, which was working perfectly.

And it is not just me. Two friends, also with an iPhone 11, have the same issues now as well. Like said before, how is it that Apple cannot even make sure the basic function of a phone is working fine in a software update...

I'm not getting that alert, but since updating to 17.4 I'm not able to make or receive calls. All outgoing calls fail.

Also, my phone number won't authenticate with iMessage--there's just a spinning waiting symbol next to it. These two things might be related, but I've tried all the same things as you above. It's driving me crazy. I need a working phone for my job.

I have seen a massive amount of issues with this update.

My phone crashed mid-way through my update, forcing me to force an update on a computer. Which was no big deal, but it continued to crash and the Apple symbol on my phone just keeps blinking on and off. I was on with Apple support for over an hour, and the ultimate consensus was that it was too far gone, and I needed to send my phone in for repair.. all over an update...

I am disabled and must be able to use headphones when using my IPhone. Since the last update. I can only make calls using the speaker. I use a walker and absolutely can’t walk one handed as I have a brain injury. I’ve tried all the suggestions and nothing has worked. My VPN is not the problem as I’ve had it for two years. I disconnected it and I still couldn’t use my headphones. Prior to the last update I could make calls and run my White Noise app in the back ground while on a call. I pay a lot of money for this phone. Please fix this problem.
