Instructions on How to Open a Specific Folder in the Files app with Siri Shortcuts on iPad or iPhone

I like many of you became frustrated when the Open shortcut that once allowed you to open folders in the files app is no more. However there is another way which I discovered through trial and error and it's better.

Follow these steps and you should have no issues.

  1. Open shortcuts
  2. Choose Get contents of folder as the first action(add whatever folder you want to open in the files app here)
  3. Choose Choose from as the second action (under choose from will automatically add whatever folder you described in the first action)
  4. Choose Quick look as final action
  5. Lastly now add to home screen

The result will be that whenever you choose this shortcut the folder will open like a table of contents of your files in that folder and you just need to press open and it will open within the files app.

Jay ~ It's still available via the File and Open File actions. That sequence will prompt you to choose from within the Files app – which additionally shows a Search box, dates & sizes:

...But the simpler interface that your 'Choose from List' offers is an elegant alternative.
