Proxy exists but is not showing that it does in available media representations bar or in clips library.

Hey there!

I transcoded my 4k footage to proxy (pro res 50%) in FCPx, but when I change the view to proxy only it still shows the original files in the available media representations (as a green dot) but no proxy version. The proxy files show in finder, and do exist, but it's as if FCP is not recognizing that they're there at all when I want to playback or edit. It weird because changing the view does not get rid of the original media like it should- photos below showing that I'm in proxy only view and that original files are the only things showing in available media. No dots to show proxy even exists. Also, if I go to transcode again it's not allowing me to because it says it's already done. Anyone that knows what's going on? Also, can I import the proxy files and work off of those? So confused and this process took hours to transcode.

Simplest thing to try first is resetting FCP prefs. Hold Option and Command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the Preferences back to the way you like (disable background rendering, reset Import to Leave Files in Place, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.

Where is the library stored and what is the disk format? ProApps require either macOS Extended for spinning drives or APFS for SSDs. Format storage devices for Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor - Apple Support
