How to recover lost music on iPhone after an iOS Update

Well this is somewhat petty of Apple to erase all the music on my iPhone that was not purchased from iTunes. I did, although it was years ago, purchase the CD's. Not pirated music. I suppose with a recent IOS update to the phone, the music just disappeared. Also, the little phone symbol at the top left corner of the iTunes page is gone. Does anyone think this move will encourage iPhone users to subscribe to Apple Music? Hardly...

The only music missing is non-purchased iTunes music. It's still on iTunes on my PC.

Currently have 199.55 gb free, new 14 Pro.

I'm telling you, there is no music on the phone, and thus the Apple watch, that is not purchased from iTunes.

Also no longer available on iTunes on the computer is the little phone icon at the top left side of the screen.

It would appear that this was a deliberate move to eliminate non-purchased music from Apple products. All the purchased music is on both mobile devices.

Wondering if you have a back-up of the music files, so you can restore them.

Apple generally advises us to back up everything before updating / upgrading / the operating system.

If the iPhone was short of memory / storage space after the update, it may have been forced to delete something old / replaceable / redownloadable / in order to keep operating, and do all you ask it to.

Eg: An iPhone generally needs around 8Gb free, in order to continue operating smoothly:

If you find more space is needed: See: How to back up - Apple Support

See: "Manage space on your iPhone in the article below for tips:

Else: Try a search for one of the CD music files to see if they are actually still on iPhone

If the music was being synced to iPhone from Mac or iCloud, try checking the settings are correct.

Thank you kindly for your reply, and info on storage space not being the problem. Sorry to hear you have not recovered your files to your iPhone, and thus the Apple Watch, as yet. Apple does expect / request everyone to remember to back up their files safely before an update.
