I used to be able to control Apple TV with my Sony Bravia TV remote. All of a sudden, two days ago, it stopped working. I have done everything. I can still turn Apple TV on and off but I could no longer navigate. When I try "Learn Remote", it doesn't recognize it. I'm not sure if there was a software update that created this issue.
Update - I found threads on other websites where people were discussing this issue from just this week - some said after the most recent software push 17.4. People were reporting the same thing on other brand TV remotes...Samsung, Panasonic you name it. Some of them sent a bug report to Apple. So I'm sure it'll get fixed. Good thing is it's not just us with the Sony remotes - kind of relieving, because was starting to wonder about my TV.
Exact same thing! Sony Bravia TV remote. Can't do "Learn Remote". Seems like software!
I have the same issue. Worked on 3/14, then the morning of 3/15 it doesn't work. Rebooted Apple TV device, Sony TV, Receiver, changed the batteries. It does still work with Sony Blu-ray.
Glad it's not just me, have reset everything today and checked for updates. After ease of Sony remote the Apple TV remote is awkward to use.
Hopefully it sorts itself soon..

That didn't work for me. The remote still won't work with Apple TV.
I have a Sony Bravia TV and LG television both no longer work on my Apple TV since IOS 17.4 what has happened 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

Had this problem but today my Sony remote started working again just like before. I didn’t have to do anything.
I’m also still experiencing this problem on my Sony Bravia and Apple TV running tvOS 17.4. I really hope they fix it
FYI, downloaded 17.5 onto my ATV and it fixed my problem with the Sony remote, looks like the CEC issue from 17.4 is fixed.

Has this been fixed, does your Sony remote work with your Apple TV again?
In an odd twist, my Sony remote is now working as expected with Apple TV. I really don't know what has changed. The Apple TV shows as tvOS 17.4(21L227) but I have no idea what that means as far as any updates.
Okay so this is strange…
Tried the method of turning off the Bluetooth and the learn remote. Went okay until selecting final option, then I got a blank screen and nothing wanted to work. I will add the tv and Apple TV are interconnected via a Denon amp.
After several pushes at back button on Sony remote I got the tv start up screen. Apple TV still not able to be accessed. Decided to just turn blue Bluetooth back on and stay with 2 remote setup.
Things still not going well and apple tv not responding correctly.
pulled power cord on the lot.
Turned it back on and Sony remote now working as normal, everything back the way it was. Don't know how or why but just going to run with it.
