Songs not saving to correct folder in iTunes

I have my iTunes folder on an external hard drive but when I connect to itunes on the laptop and hit library from the external drive nothing happens. It looks like all my music files are in a different folder (within the main iTunes folder on the external drive) called iTunes Media? How do I point my laptop at this folder or get everything from this folder onto the library in the external drive?

Windows, Windows 10

See Make a split library portable - Apple Community for some background. Selecting a different media folder doesn't automatically add all of the content from that folder to the library. If you want your media on an external drive it is generally best to have the library database on that drive too. E.g. library at X:\iTunes\iTunes LIbrary.itl with the media folder as X:\iTunes\iTunes Media. You can use File > Add Folder to Library to import the content of your media folder.
