As someone who had this issue, I think I found a work around, not really a true fix.

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > Turn everything off except the app you plan to test with

Test and see if you have problems.

If you still have issues, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth > Turn off everything except the app you plan to test with.

I only have Spotify & Teams enabled at this point and have stopped having issues. It seems to be some jacked up implementation of Bluetooth Microphone and the hardware inside causing the issue.

If you want more context on how I ended up here, I took my phone to apple. They tested and couldn't find anything wrong, but replaced the insides of the phone anyway. I didn't even make it back to my house before having more problems. So it is obvious this is a software issue of some sort.

Last week, I was listening to music and switching between Temu and my Amazon apps and my airpods would cut out for a half second. That is when I started investigating turning off the microphone, the minute i turned them off, I could switch between apps without the cut out. Magically, my Bluetooth cut out issues stopped as well.

You have a much better chance of Apple doing something about the problem with YOUR PHONE (NOT all iPhone 15’s) if you contact Apple support and have them run diagnostics on your phone.

Apple’s formal support can be reached several ways:

  • You can provide feedback to Apple at→ Product Feedback - Apple where your issue or suggestion will be recorded, but you will not get a reply

For personalized support:

Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat

Let me make a minor correction to your post:

I have now accepted that MY 15Prod bluetooth does not work with my hi fi. That doesn’t mean that millions of other iPhones wouldn’t work.

Have you tried resetting the Bluetooth on your Hi Fi?

Are you close enough to the Hi Fi? 10 feet should be fine, and it may work up to 30 feet if there are no walls to go through.

Four weeks ago, I traded in my working perfectly iPhone 13 Pro for the current iPhone 15 Pro. Blue Tooth will recognize my earbuds and automatically connect. However, my iPhone 15 refuses to recognize my Bose portable speaker. I have to manually connect to my 15 Pro each time I want to use it. Minor issue but frustrating. And recently, the 15 Pro did not recognize my BMW and I had to manually connect. Further, yesterday my 15 Pro seemed to have "forgotten" my Verizon internet router. And yes, I had to manually connect it to my 15 Pro. Brought the phone back to the Verizon store. The technician looked at my phone and said there was nothing wrong with it. Then brought my phone to the Apple Store. They ran a diagnostic on my phone and could also find nothing wrong with it. But I tell you, there is something wrong. Hardware or software, I don't know. BUT wish I hadn't turned in my 13 Pro. It worked perfectly. Anyway, I asked the Apple Store if anyone else has complained about the 15 Pro with regard to WiFi or Blue Tooth. Of course they said no issues.

I have had the same problem for over a year. I have reached out to Apple many times I reached out to my carrier many times I have switched my phone. It seems to be a glitch in one of the updates that’s buried in the phone. They told me the only way to resolve it is to restore your phone from scratch and that still did not fix anything. After researching this for months and digging through all kinds of threads, somebody did mention that it is a known problem that Apple is aware of with one of the updates and was supposed to be fixed, but here I am a year later still going through this problem it’s annoying that you can’t listen to music in your car or have Bluetooth conversations.

I have a 15pro and bluetooth playback never worked with my home Denon system(1 year old) . 2 Samsung phones and an old iPhone SE all work perfect. Have been to see a "Genius" twice and also spoken online and the only advice ever given is to do a complete reset. Have done this twice and now realise nothing cures this. Playing music on my hi fi sometimes sounds like a tape playing too fast in addition to signal dropping and normal distortion.

I have tried every suggestion on this forum but I have now accepted that the 15Prod bluetooth does not work with my hi fi.

I am sure that Apple are very aware of this issue but cynically I don't think enough feedback from customers has been received for them to do anything about it.

Sad really

the Bluetooth is horrible on this phone, iPhone 15 pro max, and I am on my second one - apple sent me a replacement to “fix” this issue and the replacement has the same problem. I have never been more frustrated, disappointed and beyond unhappy with an apple product and the support they have provided (or lack thereof) for this issue. Went to the store multiple times, called support I don’t know how many times, they tested, reset my phone and still I have an awful device - I have to toggle with it at least 8 times a day to get the Bluetooth to work. I rely on the Bluetooth to log into my work, to run my house, etc, ans I’m at a loss for what to do. Apple has provided no help as they do not seem to realize there is an issue - lack of thorough or adequate testing or a bad batch of iPhones that passed quality control that they don’t want to make right for customers, I’m not sure which is going on, possibly both.
