Has anybody kept their music library on a usb flash drive?

My music library is large (over 100GB) so I've been using network-attached storage for the last few years to save space on my MacBook hard drive. I'll need to either replace my NAS or come up with a different solution in the next year or so. Wondering if anybody has tried putting their music library on a usb flash drive? They're not known to be the most stable storage, so it worries me a little. Thought I'd check in here to see if anybody has experience with that, or other ideas. When I purchased my NAS device initially, it was for a few people. Now I'm the only one that uses it, so I don't have a strong rationale to replace it. I could also use a regular external hard drive, it's just larger and not quite as convenient.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.2
