MacBook pro M3 16 Fanes ''Turned off by hardware''?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here. But it is certainly not my first look around ;)

I have been using fan-management apps for a long time (Temp Monitor), and most recently on my Mac Studio, M2, with great success.

However, since I bought a Macbook Pro, 16'' M3, The fans seem to be ''Turned off by Hardware'' and are not able to spin when I try to force them.

I have tried other similar apps, but they have the same result.

I have also tried to run the Apple diagnostics - and here the fans did go up full blast, but with no ''error'' codes in the results.

So.. I am wondering what I can do to ''turn the fans on'' again.

hope you can help and I am looking forward to your reply.

Best

the Mac spins the fans up to a predetermined (measured) RPM setting after examining internal temperature setting multiple times a second. This runs in a feedback loop. As temperatures climb, fan speeds are set faster. if it crashes, the fail-safe default is MAXIMUM fan speed.

This is a great job for a computer, but complete nonsense to be doing manually.

It is likely that the report you are getting indicates that that Add-on App can no longer get access to hardware to change the fan speeds to faster.

My recommendation:

Stop anguishing over this issue. Your Mac can and does cool itself very nicely without your intervention.

Please get back to your important work! Despite recent advances in AI, computers can not replace YOU!
