Hard Drive Icons Not Showing on the Desktop

After updating to Sonoma 14.4 on my 2020 27-inch iMac, no hard-drive icons will appear on the desktop, including the internal drive.

The drives are mounting fine and appear in Disk Utility. They just don't show up on the desktop. I have checked all the obvious Finder Settings and ticked to have drives 'show up on desktop'.

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Thank you 6x6! That has sorted my problem.

Be warned everyone, 'Stage Manager' is a strange and I suspect little-used control pannel which turned itself on when I updated to 14.1. It can really mess up your desktop if you don't know it's there. You can find it in 'System Settings' - then - 'Finder and Dock'. Have a look.

Thanks!
