3rd Party App Notification Volume
I’m trying to figure out whether it’s just me or whether things are ‘working as designed’ on my iPhone 14 Pro Max with iOS 17.4.1.
Basically I have my Ringtone and Alerts volume set high and this is fine for the phone app and any Apple apps with alerts/notifications. I’ve set this in the Settings app and have disabled the ‘Change with Buttons’ setting. I’ll call this the Ringtone Volume.
However I have the volume for things like Music and YouTube ( via Safari ) set quite low to avoid bleeding ears. These are set with the volume buttons on the side of the phone. I’ll call this the Music Volume.
Is it normal for 3rd party app notifications, say from WhatsApp or Signal, to follow the Music Volume level rather than the Ringtone Volume? I ask because obviously if the Music volume is set much lower than the Ringtone volume then I am less likely to hear a WhatsApp or Signal notification than I am a Messages notification because they each follow a different volume ‘rule’. Messages follows the Ringtone volume.
I hope this makes sense. It’s a right pain to have to remember to put the Music volume up once I’ve finished listening to something so I can actually hear the WhatsApp or Signal notification and another pain to have to turn it back down again when I listen to music or a video.
Any help and/or confirmation greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
