(response to) iPhone deletes entire messages while I am in the middle of typing them by, emogal.

After encountering a locked thread by user emogal, which described an issue identical to what I've been experiencing, I felt compelled to share my observations in hopes of understanding this perplexing problem better.

The core of the issue lies with the Slide to Type functionality on the iPhone. When engaging in text entry across various apps—whether for messaging or note-taking—I've noticed that text occasionally starts deleting as though the backspace key has been pressed and held, instead of typing the intended content.

A pattern that seems to emerge involves initiating a word with letters located near the backspace button. This observation leads me to theorize that the gesture might mistakenly be registered as a long press on the backspace key, thereby triggering unintended text deletion.

Furthermore, I've observed that when intending to delete a single word—a quick tap on the backspace suffices due to the "Delete Slide-to-Type by Word" feature being active, which contrasts with the issue at hand.

I'm keen to learn if anyone else has encountered this scenario and if my theory aligns with your experiences. Insights or potential solutions to mitigate this issue would be greatly appreciated.
