Default audio/mic device in Safari 17.4.1 not bluetooth device anymore

I use a safari webpage to video call with my iPad or iPhone running IOS 17.4.1.

since this IOS version it defaults to iPad/iPhone's own mic and speaker.

It used to default to any connected device.

When playing music on Youtube it does still defaults to the connected device.

I've tried on older IOS versions with the same devices and there it still defaults to the connected device so its definitely 17.4.1 related.

Tried using Chrome browser instead but the problem persists there.

The only "workaround" I found was opening the control center and switching audio devices. It did portray playing on the headset but it definitely wasn't. so had to switch to iPhone/iPad and back.

This particular webpage I use to videocall does not support switching manually to a different audio device.

I've tried mic test websites and they also default to the iPhone/iPad audio but usually do give the option to switch.

Any idea to fix this or bring this to Apple's attention?
