I am unable to access Hard Drive on Mac mini with "you don’t have the necessary permission" pop up

I can't access a hard drive because I get an error message saying that I don't have permission to read it's contents..And it's giving that drive a name that is used for the main drive.

This happens as soon as I highlight the drive in the finder.

When I unlocked the get info window for the drive and try adding my name to the list I get this message:

there is also a user called "wheel" listed in the get info window
