CarPlay arbitrarily mutes microphone during call.

It’s not an Apple issue. It was a software issue on the Subarus. Just had my software updated today and it got rid of this annoying issue. The update has to be done at the dealership so make an appointment.

Same. Except mine was a $60,000 brand new outback wilderness and I’m some ****** that it’s a known issue that was not disclosed.

Has anyone experienced a solution to callers not being able to hear you? Subaru keeps telling me it’s not an issue.

Did you ever solve this issue? I too am tempted to get rid of my 24 WRX over this issue.

I have this issue in my 2024 Subaru Ascent. Calls are muted after a few minutes. The only solution is to hang up and call back. But it wil happen again after a few minutes. The time seems to get shorter with each call.

Same thing happens with our new 2024 Subaru Outback. My voice drops out on their end after a minute or two. I can always hear them over the car’s infotainment speakers. If I grab my iPhone 13 and switch to hearing it on the iPhone speaker or connect the call to my Bluetooth hearing aids, they can hear me if they haven’t already hung up by then. If I switch back to CarPlay in the Subaru, they can hear me again. For a while. But it happens often. And is annoying.

This happens in my 2024 Legacy. And there’s plenty of times Apple CarPlay does not even connect. Especially if I remote start my car. I’m taking it to a dealership for the second time next week. I have not been told that it’s an apple problem yet. If they tell me that, we’re calling Apple support right from the dealership.

This is also happening with my 2024 Subaru Outback Touring XT. So frustrating!!!! I have iPhone 13Pro and I have to switch call to “speaker” then back to CarPlay for it to work again. Total safety hazard if I’m the driver and not a passenger.

I am on my second Subaru and have eight iPhones and Apple Watches on my account. This audio dropout is not only unacceptable, it dangerous and possibly illegal. In most states it is illegal to use a handheld phone in any way while driving. This issue forces us to find our phone and tap through at least three icons to recover the outgoing audio. While doing so I have just driven the length of a football field with phone in hand and eyes on the phone. My 2024 Outback Touring XT actually yells at me because the driver monitoring camera sees me not looking at the road. My Subaru cares, but is there any response from Apple?

I own a 2024 WRX and can confirm this is the issue with both iPhone 11 and iPhone 13.

This is ridiculous and likely an easy software fix that can be addressed with some an update/patch from Subaru and/or Apple. How does this get escalated? It's absolutely a safety issue.
