How do I fix this error- Some of the purchased items on this iPhone could not be transferred to your library because you are not authorized on this computer-when I am authorized?

I have an old Mac book pro with all my music, this has music from cd's and other sources from the past 15 years which I really need and dont want to purchase again!, I have bought a new MacBook now and I can not sync my iPhone with music or it wipes out all my old music and only allows iTunes purchases with the error code, so I can only sync with my old MacBook, I found some information on this problem for windows users to try help but nothing for apple device issues?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Hi,

Basically you have to copy music that you did not purchase from the iTunes Store the new copy. Your iTunes account account gives you access to previous iTunes purchases which are available to re-download. Essentially you need to copy your entire music folder to your new computer. This can be done directly from computer to computer but using a separate external drive will give you an extra backup. Guidance is contained in the link already provided.

I can't understand why my old MacBook is signed into iTunes music and has my full music library but on my new MacBook I am also signed into iTunes music same account but only half th music is present? why is it not on the account with both laptops?

I am not computer literate? is the basic idea to use a portable hard drive and drag the music on the old MacBook into the storage and then move the storage into the new laptop and drag drag and drop into the new laptop? will this work or is there more work needed?
